Student notes

When Onalaska and Holmen area students do well, we want to hear about it. The Onalaska Community Life and Holmen Courier publish news about student achievements from elementary to college. Here is the latest good news about Onalaska and Holmen area students:

Joan Kennedy and Abigail Walls, both of Onalaska and both dental hygiene students at Western Technical College, have been awarded scholarships from the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation.

The following area students were named to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus 2008 spring semester dean’s list:

  • HOLMEN: Heather Lokken, Jenna Maland, Eric Richert, Alyssa Boggs

  • ONALASKA: Gretchen Faile, Valerie Weinstein, Emily Wypyszynski, Andrew Gerstenberger, Lindsay Handtke

    Katrina Meyer of Holmen was named to the winter and May 2008 deans list at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

    The following area students were named to the chancellor’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for the spring 2008 semester:

  • HOLMEN: Noel Braatz, Trey King, Ryan Schelbe

  • ONALASKA: Bryce Anderson, Jill Bettesworth, Paul Heuer, Hans Jungck, Tracy Landolt, Ashley Lund, Angela Morrissey, Britney Plunkett, Hannah Rosenthal, Nicholas Sorrentino

    Kyle Thompson, a native of Onalaska, won the Toy Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Chemistry Department. The $2,500 award recognizes students who excelled academically in the department.

    The University of Wisconsin-Madison has named the following area students to the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2007-08 academic year:

  • MINDORO: Jeremy Ebner

    Matthew Cantlon of Holmen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a BS in managerial accounting and business administration.

    Jacob Grotelueschen of Holmen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a BFA in art-graphic design.
